MathsMatters Introduction

I. Introduction

MathsMatters is an online Mathematics club for Year 5 to Year 10 students in the UK. The club runs in three different levels as primary (Years 5&6), Junior (Years 7&8), and Intermediate (Years 9&10).

II. Aims

The aims of the MathsMatters are to

1. Improve ability to learn
2. Develop problem solving skills
3. Enhance creative thinking
4. Encourage to participate in Mathematical competitions

MathsMatters is not to give massive formulas to memorize but to give curiosity to learn to the students.

III. Differences between MathsMatters and other Mathematics Tuitions

MathsMatters has its own syllabus which aims to make connection between Mathematics and real life and increase the students’ attention towards learning. The topics are not selected or arranged according to the students’ school lessons.

IV. The Organizer

The MathsMatters is organized by North London Grammar School.
Under the direction of the North London Grammar School, an Academic Committee is formed from experienced volunteer teachers and some young Mathematicians.

V. Schedule of the MathsMatters

There are two lessons at every Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00. The students enrolled are to attend at least for 8 weeks.

VI. Charges and Scholarships

The registration fee is £100 for a month. Students who attend all the lessons in the first month and completes the given tasks on time are eligible to receive scholarships up to 100% in the second month. The third month another payment is required and those fulfilling the criteria may receive a scholarship in the next month. The process is same for every two months seasons.
